The Balvenie Thirty and The Balvenie Forty now join the previously released The Balvenie Twenty-Five, completing The Balvenie Rare Marriages range. The exquisite collection is Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE’s newest range of premium Single Malts, created for the discerning drinker. It is a collection of three distinct whiskies that pay tribute to David’s dedication to designing and building exceptional flavour, through the marriage of rare casks.
The Rare Marriages range features casks that have stood the test of time. Each has been patiently tended to for decades of maturation to reach a fine age and only a small selection of the rarest casks, each of exceptional quality and unique individual flavour are brought together by David’s expert nose in a traditional oak marrying tun, resulting in unparalleled depth of flavour.
On the surface, the whiskies are all equipped with The Balvenie’s distinct runny honey and underlying rich oakiness. But with every sip, layers of exceptional complexity are unveiled. The seemingly simple honeyed oakiness evolves into complex layers of toasted marshmallows, fresh fruit and cinnamon; a continuous unveiling of discovery that lends itself to timeless tranquillity.
“There are few whiskies that embody the true craft and heart of our Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE like the Rare Marriages range. The way each cask has been brought together is an incredibly intricate process and takes true skill and intuition,” said Brett Bayly, Regional Brand Ambassador for The Balvenie Southeast Asia. “The result is something very special and one that speaks to the true heart of what The Balvenie stands for – flavours that are seemingly simple, yet incredibly complex. Whiskies that we are very proud of and excited to share with the world,” he added.
To bring to life the layers of complexity of the whiskies within the Rare Marriages range, The Balvenie commissioned artwork by three renowned international artists – wood artist Rebal Jber for The Balvenie Forty, South Korean leatherwork artist Junsu Kim for The Balvenie Thirty and paper quilling artist Yulia Brodskaya for The Balvenie Twenty-Five.
The Balvenie Rare Marriages range is a permanent fixture in the Speyside distillery’s portfolio, designed for discerning drinkers to discover the incredibly complex in the seemingly simple.

Notes To Editors:
The Balvenie Twenty-Five – Aged 25 Years – 48% ABV non-chill filtered of natural colour
Extraordinary depth; the perfect balance to create the most elegantly fruity expression. In a flawless marriage, Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE brings together individual casks to craft an incredibly intricate and balanced expression; exemplifying the art and skill of Traditional Oak Tun Marriages with liquid from European and American casks. A whisky of exceptional character, Twenty-Five hints at The Balvenie’s most sought-after flavours – bold vanilla oak, crystalised ginger and sweet runny honey. Presented in a case of rich burgundy colour that graduates to a lighter ombré hue, the colours represent the evolution of flavours in the marrying process. Rings of white gold foil represent each year of maturation.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Soft autumn fruits, runny honey, crystallised ginger and raw cane sugar. An underlying rich oakiness creates complexity and structure.
- Taste: Bold vanilla flavours with layers of toasted marshmallows, fresh fruit terrine and cinnamon infused apple tart.
- Finish: Exceptionally long-lasting sweetness.
The Balvenie Thirty – Aged 30 Years – 44.2% ABV chill filtered of natural colour
Like silk to taste, this is the sweetest and most honeyed expression. For The Balvenie Thirty, Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE marries Traditional American and European oak casks that have been matured for decades in order to craft a whisky of incredible sweetness and complexity. A silky sweetness gives way to great depth of rich honey, mellow oaky tones and hints of candied orange peel. The packaging’s cylinder shape is a soft goat leather construct; detailed with gradually faded debossed pattern rings, inspired by the distillery to represent the unfurling of flavour in the marrying process; finished with white gold foil creating a highly tactile and luxurious touch.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Smooth and honeyed on the nose with mellow oaky tones and hints of candied orange peel.
- Taste: Great depth with rich dark chocolate, hints of plum, marzipan and caramelised pear.
- Finish: Exceptionally smooth and warming with gentle spice and lingering sweetness.
