Brand accelerator Bawatana launched Sprout – a series of founder-focused interaction sessions aimed at empowering founders with the knowledge to understand what it is they can do to be better at building their own brands. Its first ever Sprout programme will be a hybrid event that takes place both on-site and virtually on Saturday, 21 November 2020 from 8.00 am until 6.00 pm at Me.reka Makerspace, Publika KL.

These equity-free, dedicated sessions are aimed to help founders address all aspects of brand building from honing brand narratives, marketing strategies, understanding marketing analytics and communicating with investors. For its first edition, the full-day programme will immerse founders in a fast-tracked branding and marketing syllabus whereby one can gain valuable insights and learn practical tips on what startups can do pertaining to branding and marketing, especially in the early stages of its business in which both financial and human resources are limited.

“We’re excited to launch Sprout which serves as an extension to who we are as a brand accelerator and a spring board to write a new chapter of our business. Having worked with many brands over the years and through investing in startups in Malaysia, we believe that the one determining factor in securing the success of a startup is a powerful brand. Now more than ever, small businesses and startups are being put through the paces to adapt to new realities that our world is facing. This opens doors for us to leverage our platform, network and resources to support innovative and driven founders to develop their brand. We’d like to thank our partners and comrades in the industry for lending us their support on our latest initiative and very much look forward to unearthing invaluable founders to foster their future business growth,”
said Hardesh Singh, Managing Partner of Bawatana.
This year’s programme will be a collaborative effort with various partners including Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) and lifestyle newswire Kepohchi.
“MaGIC drives the development of a vibrant and sustainable startup and social enterprise ecosystem built on impact-driven innovation and inclusivity. Through our initiatives at MaGIC, we realise that what separates a startup from either surviving or failing, among others, is the role that ‘brand’ plays. It is imperative that startups place an emphasis on this as one of the key starting points of their business before building on their ambitions. We’re excited to be partnering with Bawatana to uncover the next generation of startups and founders and look forward to more opportunities to collaborate with them,”
said Rajen Dorairaj, Senior Manager of Partnership at MaGIC.
Some of the programme speakers include:
2) Edmund Choe, Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Aegis Network – Award-winning creative icon and guru
3) Bryan Loo, Chief Executive Officer of Loob Holding – Revered F&B entrepreneur
4) Chan Woei Hern, Executive Creative Director of Ensemble IPG Mediabrands – one of Malaysia’s top creative player; and
5) Rengeeta Rendava, Founder of Mad Hat Asia and Kepohchi – Brand communicator
