Cadbury partners with Premier League for a second season with more surprises

Cadbury, the world’s best-selling confectionery brand under Mondelēz International officially commenced the second season of their partnership with leading football authority, the Premier League in a public viewing event of the Liverpool vs Everton match at The Square, Publika.

The 90-minute game kept fans at the edge of their seats as they watched their favourite players put up an exciting match with unpredictable moments, leaving fans constantly guessing, from a penalty save by the goalkeeper to a goal that changed the course of the game. Fans were in for a special treat with the surprise appearance of Michael Owen, the former Premier League champion and all-round football legend to commemorate the partnership.

Over 300 fans of Cadbury and the Premier League who attended the viewing event were treated to meet and greet sessions and one-on-one football activities with the former Liverpool and Manchester United striker. Nisha Nair, Brand Manager of Cadbury Dairy Milk said, “Cadbury has been the official snack partner for the Premier League for three years now and this collaboration has opened up fantastic opportunities to bring memorable moments of joy to life in new and different ways while also reaching out to a whole new market of football fans. It has been an incredibly exciting opportunity to integrate the iconic Cadbury brand with the distinctive Premier League brand while bringing excitement of this prestigious football league to Malaysian fans.”

The football euphoria did not just end at Publika. Due to an overwhelming response, Cadbury announced that it will be conducting its Cadbury FC contest again. This time 10 winners and their friends will stand a chance to win Corporate Hospitality tickets and an all-expense paid trip to the United Kingdom to watch a Premier League match of their choice. The contest runs from 1 March and will culminate on 31 May 2019. Steps to submit an entry is as follows:

The Premier League partnership, which was first announced in the UK in 2017, unifies two iconic global brands that have a unique place within popular culture, and the hearts of people across the world and especially in Malaysia. Considered one of the best Premier League players of his generation, Michael Owen was instrumental in Liverpool’s treble success, which included winning the Premier League title in 2001. He has a historic link to the Premier League and plays a significant role in demonstrating intense passion for the tournament.

Speaking at the event, Owen said, “I’m so humbled to have been chosen to commemorate this second season of a continuously exciting partnership between Cadbury and the Premier League. In conjunction with the Cadbury FC campaign period, Cadbury have introduced two limited edition Cadbury FC themed gift boxes that contain a variety of iconic Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bars. The standard box is priced at RM44.90, while a box of Cadbury Dairy Milk with customisable sleeves are priced at RM57.90 and are exclusively available on Shopee. The first 15 customers from each week also stand a chance to receive an original signed photograph by Michael Owen himself.
