KUALA LUMPUR, 17th MARCH 2020 – Malaysia is currently fighting one of the biggest global health crisis which is the pandemic of COVID-19. As of the latest data released by the Ministry of Health Malaysia; there are 553 cases of COVID-19 (16/03/2020). Our healthcare system is working hard with 57 hospitals dedicated for screening COVID-19 and 28 hospitals are assigned as the designated referral centres for COVID-19.
Malaysian healthcare workers as the front-liners are risking their lives – putting valiant efforts in battling this pandemic and providing the optimal care for our fellow Malaysians. As a concerned Malaysian citizen, the co-founder of FashionValet (FV) and IMARET’s goodwill ambassador, Vivy Yusof has been following the development of COVID-19 closely and felt moved by the dedication of Malaysian healthcare workers – “How can we sit tight at home while hospital staff work multiple shifts and overtime to care for infected patients that are increasing in number. Now is the time for us to do something that’s bigger than us.” – Vivy Yusof.
Thus, in the spirit of supporting our Malaysia in fighting COVID-19; Vivy Yusof, husband Fadza Anuar and FashionValet team are initiating a fund platform (FV COVID19 Support Fund) to raise funds for our Malaysian healthcare system via https://www.simplygiving.com/fv-covid19-support-fund. Vivy Yusof and Fadza Anuar are also personally donating RM 100,000 to the cause. Funds raised here will be used to:
- Mobilise volunteers to assist at health facilities.
- Assist hospitalised/quarantined friends and front-liners.
- Provide medical and general supplies to hospitals. FV is partnering with IMARET (Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia Response & Relief Team) to execute the above plans. We hereby call upon the generosity of all Malaysians to contribute to our FV COVID19 Support Fund through donations and spreading the word about this fundraising effort.
IMARET (IMAM Response & Relief Team) is a team powered by Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia (IMAM) that provides humanitarian aid reliefs in response to any natural or manmade disasters as well as outreach programs to marginalised communities in non-disastrous regions, locally and internationally.
