Jakarta, 21 February 2020 – Super League Triathlon (SLT) has answered the call of the expanding scene in Indonesia and will return to gorgeous Bali for a second season from April 3 to 5, with Indonesia’s Asihta Aulia Azzahra being one of the competition’s biggest names.
At only 18, Asihta carved her name as a potential powerhouse when she became Indonesia’s first triathlete to compete at the World Cup 2019. She made her SLT debut last year, along with six other Indonesian triathletes, making Asihta one of the biggest draws in this year’s event.

Asihta’s participation was a letdown by her standards, but she is back with a big mission to change that. “I did not even get a chance to use my bicycle last year, after I was eliminated early on. My goal this year is to experience the swim, bike and run,” said Asihta, who could potentially become the first Indonesian to qualify for the Championship Series.
“I will be delighted to be the first Indonesian woman who qualifies for the Championship series. This means a lot to me, especially if I can do it on my home turf. It will be challenging, but I like challenges.”
BCA Super League Triathlon Bali 2020 will be focusing primarily on the Triple Mix and Eliminator categories this year. Known as the ‘Master of Versatility’, the Triple Mix plays party popper to the traditional swim-bike-run sequence in triathlon. Triathletes must will their bodies for this excruciating category, and falling 90 seconds behind will spell elimination.
The Triple Mix race format consists of three stages of a swim (300 metres), bike (four kilometres) and run (1.6 kilometres). Stage 1 starts off with a swim, followed by bike and finishes with the run, while Stage 2 kicks off with a run, followed by bike and swim. The shuffle in sequence is complete in Stage 3 with a bike start, followed by swim and run. Triathletes are given a six to 10-minute break at the end of each stage, with the break based on the first athlete’s arrival time.
The triathlon goes back to its roots with the Eliminator, which is the first ever format raced in Super League. Dubbed the Master Of Tenacity, the Eliminator places high emphasis on field position. It means triathletes must battle all elements and finish high up the ladder to avoid elimination.
The three stages of the Eliminator consists of a 300-metre swim, four kilometre bike ride and a 1.6 kilometre run. A six-minute break is given between each stage, and the challenge is for the triathletes to achieve their highest position to be crowned the most resilient on the circuit.
BCA Super League Triathlon Bali is a testament to the in-roads triathlon is making into the nation with a population of close to 300 million. Besides its huge economic returns, triathlon clubs are mushrooming all over Indonesia and attracts people from various sports backgrounds with the same mindset to converge together, inspire one another and achieve a common goal while having a great time.
There will be plenty of newbies wanting to push their physical boundaries at the lush, yet demanding hilly terrains of Bali this April, and the SLT could prove a defining moment in many of these participants’ lives.
Super League Triathlon kicks off a five venue 2020 Qualifier Series in Bali (April 3-5) that continues to Salinas, Ecuador (April 24-26), Tempe, Arizona (May 22-24), Poznan, Poland (June 27-28) and ends in Ottawa, Canada (July 4-5).
