The sun has set on IT’S THE SHIP’s fifth sailing. Asia’s largest festival at sea, has ended with yet another successful sailing, with all cabins completely sold out and a total of 4,000 shipmates in attendance. With over 94 artists from around the world on-board, IT’S THE SHIP staged performances that left party-goers wanting more. The ship also featured its signature pop-up parties and exhilarating side activities where shipmates were allowed to get into some dunk tank fun with Playboy Bunnies and get competitive over GIant Jenga with Kate Fox and Le Youth.
Returning to the Genting Dream, one of the first-ever luxury cruises in Asia, this fifth edition of IT’S THE SHIP was captained by the ever-enthusiastic Big Shaq, who achieved stardom with his hit song, “Man’s Not Hot”. This year’s cruise also witnessed a whopping 87 countries participate in IT’S THE SHIP, with Singapore, Japan, Thailand and Australia scoring among the top attending countries, setting the stage for next year’s edition.
IT’S THE SHIP has continuously navigated its way to become one of Asia’s most-anticipated festivals with an increasingly impressive line-up each year. Marquee performances from EDM icons such as Cash Cash and Showtek stole the show stage and household trance names such as Paul Van Dyk and Vini Vici lit up the stage during their sets while other crowd favourites including Nahsyk, Franky Rizardo and Jasper Fioole led the crowd into a new day with their sunrise sets.
There was also an increase in regional talent with organisers, Livescape Group once again providing a platform for renowned South East Asian artists to showcase their talent on a world stage with acts like Lenerd and Myrne. Livescape also held their second Deck Selecta competition where three lucky winners, Yusef Kifah from Malaysia and Juncoco and Enoch An from South Korea got to perform alongside some of the best DJs on this year’s party cruise.

“With this being the 5th sailing, we wanted to create the best possible experience for our shipmates. We’re so thankful for the partners and sponsors who continuously elevate the IT’S THE SHIP experience. We’re also grateful to the dedicated team behind IT’S THE SHIP who worked tirelessly to ensure that the event is unique and exciting for everyone aboard the ship. Having said that, we hope each and every shipmate had a truly unforgettable adventure on board and we thank you for making IT’S THE SHIP Asia’s largest festival at sea,” said Iqbal Ameer, Group CEO of Livescape Group.
In addition to becoming recognised locally and internationally as one of Asia’s largest music festivals, IT’S THE SHIP has proven to be more than just that with interactive side activities and exciting pop-up parties. This year was no different, with activities ranging from musical beers to themed events such as the foam party. A crowd favourite included the ‘Mix Us Happy’ side activity where shipmates got to try their hand at producing their own remixes. The cruise festival would not be what it is without its off stage random experiences such as a mini-bar in the elevators, pop-up DJ booths around the ship and a meet and greet session with Steve the Duck, the official IT’S THE SHIP mascot. These unique random side activations help elevate the overall experience that contribute to making IT’S THE SHIP a memorable one for every single shipmate.
This year’s party cruise docked at Phuket, Thailand once again but with a slight twist, as shipmates were given the freedom to explore the tropical island setting and relax, enjoy quintessential Thai massages and indulge in iconic Thai delicacies such as pad thai and som tum.
To summarise a remarkable weekend at sea, IT’S THE SHIP revealed to the shipmates onboard their newly added adventure for 2019 with IT’S THE SHIP China.
