Vivy Yusof dolls up in the Trendsetter scarf, part of the Limited Edition Barbie x dUCk collection

Pink tutu. Pink car. Pink dreamhouse.

Believe it or not, long before my purple obsession, I was all about the pink life. And I’ve got someone very special to thank for that; someone who celebrates her 60th birthday this year,  remains a go-getter, an inspiration, and one of the coolest gals ever. Join me as we paint the town pink, because dUCk’s celebrating an icon as timeless as can be – Barbie!  When I was a little girl, all I’d ask for at every birthday was a brand new Barbie, and I’ve kept my collection in mint condition, proudly on display at home. I’m excited that dUCk gets to celebrate Barbie on her 60th birthday, because just like she did for me when I was little, I know she’ll continue to inspire young girls to shatter glass ceilings and achieve their dreams, whatever they may be.  Back in 2018, dUCk had the honour of being the first Malaysian brand to create miniature versions of our Oriental dUCk scarf. It was such an amazing moment for dUCk, something I’ll always be proud of. To think that the first encounter with Barbie has now led to something bigger, literally! Now, we’re the first scarf brand in South East Asia to collaborate with Mattel, a feat beyond my wildest dreams.

To commemorate this huge milestone, I pulled out all stops, bringing together our entire range of products for a celebration to remember. Scarves, twillies, bags, cosmetics and even a cosmetics pouch. There are so many ways to doll up, and I want you to experience it in the way you love best! Each item in this collection was created with that iconic Barbie aesthetic in mind; bright colours, fun and joyful vibes, and of course lots of pink. From the items right down to the packaging and product names, each feature has been lovingly selected to reflect Barbie’s joie de vivre and timelessness. Here’s the lowdown on each category within the collection:

SCARVES AND TWILLIES

As a nod to Barbie’s playfulness, each Limited Edition Barbie x dUCk scarf comes in harmonious pops of vibrant colours. Barbie herself makes an appearance, her iconic silhouette along with her signature high ponytail, takes centre stage. Our twillies make a comeback too, as an additional accessory to rock around your neck, wrist or dress up your handbag! Each scarf and matching twilly carries a name associated with Barbie; Groundbreaker, Trendsetter, Creator, Explorer, Dreamer and Believer. After all, Barbie’s worn many hats in her 60 years, something we had to pay tribute to.

BAGS

And what’s Barbie without a bag! The Mini Carey bag, with its compact size and chic exterior makes the perfect arm candy for this collection. Revamped with bright pops of colours and dual-toned accents, the bag is truly inspired by the icon herself. True Barbie fans will surely recognize the striped inner lining design, a nod to Barbie’s iconic black-and-white outfit from 1959. Four bold, classy and oh-so-stylish variants feature in this collection, and each gets its name from one of Barbie’s best friends. Meet Teresa, Nikki, Renee and Daisy, soon to be your new besties too!

COSMETICS

Rosy cheeks and that perfect pink pout, it’s a Barbie hallmark, no question. Pink hues take centre stage on four lipsticks and a face palette from the Barbie x dUCk cosmetics range, available as a set or separately. The collection introduces a brand new lipstick formula with satin finish for the perfect Barbie sheen. With nourishing ingredients like Argan Oil and Vitamin E, the colour glides on like a dream. Your heart will go pitter-patter for the four shades: The Real Queen (rosy pink), Class Act (warm coral), Fashionista (warm nude brown), and Pretty Perfect (sweet pink). The Barbie x dUCk Cosmetics face palette is a trio of blusher (Beach Cruiser), bronzer (Tiki Hut) and highlighter (Dreamhouse), in a snazzy compact that you can stash in your handbag. Each shade is buildable and blendable for a great contoured finish.

Finally, a nifty little pouch to keep your Barbie x dUCk cosmetics safe – Girl Power is here to save the day so your favourite items are on hand all the time. With a Barbie-inspired hot pink shade, it’s a must-have that features an exclusive never-before-seen limited edition Barbie x dUCk zip puller.

“I always dream of big things for dUCk but this one is beyond my imagination. dUCk is the first modest fashion brand to collaborate with Barbie and I have to pinch myself to believe this. To end the year with our biggest collaboration to date, I’m so proud of the brand and the amazing team behind it. Thank you Barbie for always upholding inclusivity and giving a nod to modest fashion and everything that it stands for. I’ll forever be your biggest fan!”, said Vivy Yusof, founder of The dUCk Group.

Mr Ivan Franco, Country Manager, Mattel South Asia, said “As part of Barbie®’s 60th anniversary celebration in Malaysia, we’re pleased to partner with The dUCk Group to empower the next generation of young girls and women in their pursuit of their dreams, where they can be anything. We want to continue the legacy of Barbie® by working with local and international partners to inspire young girls and women to go forth to experience their dream career, and this round is through fashion, cosmetics and accessories with local empowerment messages on its products designed by a well respected Entrepreneur, Datin Vivy Yusof.”

From growing up wanting a brand new Barbie for every birthday to now having a whole collection celebrating this iconic doll, it really is a moment I will forever cherish.
